Access to basic education

Amara's village marries young girls off at 12. Her mother sought a path to dignity for her daughters through education and safety.

The ladies in village are maltreated by their husband. Amara's mother wanted more for her daughters. More to life and everything that life offers. One night while Amara's father went out to the exterior of village to petrol for soldiers. Amara's mother took her baby sister and her and run for the forest behind their house. They were joined by few more ladies.

This was when Amara's mother `made it to South Africa. Amara cries that her mother has always strived so hard to put food on their table. She sell second hand cloths in the free market. Through this Amara was put into school.

Mariam is currently a maid in Morningside. Working towards her rent and paying children's school fees. Mariam joined Vision of refugee woman South Africa at the Nusaybah sister's network in Ramadhan. She has highlighted that she felt alone and that being in the sisterhood reminded her of a few things she can be greatfull for.
