Vision of Refugee Women SA Launches the Nusaybah Sisters Network

A New Community Hub to Empower, Educate and Uplift all Women. This was celebrated at a Joyful Iftaar Gathering of 55 Women.

8 MARCH 2026. The Vision of Refugee Women in South Africa (VRWSA) is proud to announce the official launch of the Nusaybah Sisters Network, a landmark community initiative marking a new chapter in VRWSA’s mission to build a stronger, more connected, and more empowered community for women and their families.

The ninitiative was unveiled on Saturday, 8 March 2026 coinciding with International Women’s Day during a warm and joyful Iftaar gathering hosted by VRWSA. The event brought together 55 women from diverse backgrounds to share in the blessings of Ramadan, celebrate sisterhood, and witness the birth of a network built entirely around them. The iftar showcased inclusivity and integration of refugee woman and local South African woman who came together in one room to share a hot iftar meal.

The Nusaybah Sisters Network is named in honour of Nusaybah bint Ka’ab. One of the most courageous and inspiring women in Islamic history a fitting symbol for a network rooted in strength, dignity, and service. The network stands as a dedicated hub within VRWSA, created to serve all women regardless of background, faith, or status.

The network is built on e main pillars. To empower, educate and uplift the woman in the community. Nusaybah sisters Network belives that every Woman need to be heard and seen. A sisterhood will build this long lasting bond.

The Nusaybah Sisters Network launch marks the beginning of an exciting and ambitious new phase for VRWSA. In the coming months, the network will roll out a structured programs of workshops, mentorship circles, skills development sessions, and community support groups all designed to put women at the centre.

VRWSA invites community partners, organisations, volunteers, and donors to join this movement. Whether through financial support, skills contributions, or simply spreading the word every act of solidarity helps the Nusaybah Sisters Network grow and serve more women.
